In layman’s terms, it’s just like you imagine – a signature in electronic form. Per the US Federal ESIGN Act, an "electronic signature" is an electronic sound, symbol, or process, attached to or logically associated with a contract or other record and executed or adopted by a person with the intent to sign the record.

eSignatures use computers to authenticate the signatory and certify the integrity of the document. They enable signatories to approve or agree with the terms of a document, just like with “wet” signatures (stamps, signs, seals, marks).

Contrary to public skepticism, electronic signatures are 100% legal. They are as legally binding as traditional signatures. The majority of businesses around the globe are using them. The E-Sign Act in the US ascribes electronic signatures with the same legal authority as a wet signature, applicable to all documents with the exception of a will. eSignatures also comply with the EU’s eIDAS regulation.

Digital signatures are a type of electronic signature that use complex algorithms, certificate authorities (CAs), and trust service providers (TSPs) to authenticate the signatory along with the integrity of the document.

RSign accepts formats such as Microsoft Word and PDF, or other document formats. You can upload documents from your device or file-sharing sites like Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive.
